AITP-RTP Meeting –  NCTECH Report: How Does NC Stack Up?

Summary:

Demand for talent is the top issue for employers of all types and sizes. How does North Carolina compare to other states in key metrics that define strength of the tech sector generally, and talent availability in particular?  How is tech hiring trending two years into the COVID pandemic?  How do North Carolina’s metros compare to the top 100 nationally in tech talent demand and availability, and in innovation rankings generally?  The North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH) offers data on these topics in monthly and annual reports; our guest speaker Brooks Raiford, CEO of NC TECH, will brief us on the latest results and trends.

Our Speaker:

Brooks Raiford

Brooks Raiford has served as President + CEO of the North Carolina Technology Association since 2008. NC TECH is the statewide industry association for the tech sector, representing 600 member companies and organizations that collectively employ over 200,000 North Carolinians.

In the early 1990s, Brooks served as a policy aide to the Governor of North Carolina, where a key focus area was information technology and its impact on a variety of public policy areas.  Subsequently, he held leadership positions in North Carolina’s nonprofit and business sectors.

Brooks’ current and recent leadership activities include serving as an appointee of the Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court to the North Carolina Commission on the Administration of Law and Justice; Vice Chair (and US Policy Chair) of the Board of Directors of the Technology Councils of North America; the North Carolina Advisory Committee of the US Global Leadership Coalition; the Corporate Advisory Board of the Independent College Fund of North Carolina; Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Guilford College; and President of the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at NC State University, where he is a former Student Body President and University Trustee.
