AITP-RTP Meeting – SAS, A 20 Year Journey to the Cloud

Summary:

SAS began it's cloud journey in 2001 with the release of the IntelliVisor for Retail service offering delivered as an Application Service Provider (ASP) business model, which gave SAS customers the ability to solve complex business analytics problems without having to manage a SAS infrastructure or data operations. Fast-forward 20 years to a world-class analytics hosting business with hundreds of customers throughout the globe. This presentation will be a personal look at how we evolved from a small ASP business unit, to be able to tackle difficult and complex IT, data security, compliance, customer care, managed services, application operations, and many other challenges.

Our Speaker:

Don Koch spent 25 years in various technology roles at SAS, with the past 20 years holding key leadership positions where he championed forward technology, process disruption and a passion for customer success. In 2000, Don was one of four principles that founded the SAS cloud analytics business unit, helping it grow from a small Application Service Provider hosted in the SAS data center, to a comprehensive suite of the most sophisticated cloud-based SAS applications in the world as well as robust Analytic Managed Services, which had to meet the most stringent technical, availability and compliance standards in the industry.
